Speakers' Meetings - 2019

Below are details of our speaker's meetings for early 2019.

Tuesday 12 February - John Stockill, a local builder and restorer, will talk about "Restoring and Rebuilding the Old Town"

The meeting will take place at The Dower House Hotel, Bond End, Knaresborough, beginning at 7.30 pm.   The cost is £3 for members and £5 for non-members.  John has worked on some of the oldest buildings in Knaresborough and elsewhere so this should be an interesting talk.

Tuesday 12 March - Peter Lacey, a well known Knaresborian, will talk on "The Life and Times of St Robert of Knaresborough"

The meeting will take place at The Dower House Hotel, Bond End, Knaresborough, beginning at 7.30 pm.   The cost is £3 for members and £5 for non-members.  Peter has been instrumental in our celebrations this year of the 800th anniversary of the death of St Robert and is the author of "Tales of the Celebrity Hermit".  If anyone knows about the life of our local saint it is Peter!

Tuesday 2 April - Our AGM

The meeting will take place at The Dower House Hotel, Bond End, Knaresborough, beginning at 7.30 pm. There is no charge for this event which is primarily aimed at members.  If non-members attend we will welcome them but they will be unable to vote unless they join as members first.  Following the formal business of the meeting, which we will  aim to despatch as quickly and efficiently as possible, we will have two short presentations.  One will be from James Monaghan who will tell us about the history of the Victoria Jubilee Fountain and then Ian Wright will talk about his experience as a southerner moving to Yorkshire.

More meetings will follow in the autumn
