Market Place

Knaresborough’s records say there has been a market here since 1206 but it didn’t receive a Royal charter until 1310.

Since then the town has held an outdoor market every week, which makes Knaresborough’s market the longest continually run market in the country.

Nowadays the lovely little market is right in the heart of Knaresborough and sells a wide range of items including craft and paper goods, bags, shoes, plants and flowers and beautiful local fruit and veg.

The town cryer in all his regalia is a big attraction for visitors.
